The Diocese of Lancaster Education Service is committed to the ongoing formation of teachers, catechists, and school leaders. Our programmes aim to deepen understanding of the Catholic faith, enhance teaching and leadership skills, and support the spiritual development of all involved in Catholic education.
The CCRS is a nationally recognised course designed to provide teachers, catechists, and school governors with a foundational understanding of Catholic theology. It comprises eight modules: six core modules covering areas such as Scripture, Christology, and the Church, and two specialist modules tailored to the participant’s ministry. The course is validated by the Board of Studies of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales and is typically completed over two years, with a maximum duration of five years.
This two-year course is designed for those involved in evangelisation, catechesis, or adult formation. It offers a systematic exploration of Church teaching, enabling participants to deepen their faith and share it confidently. The programme includes online study sessions, in-person gatherings, and practical assignments, all supported by comprehensive workbooks and resources.
We offer a range of training opportunities to support the professional and spiritual growth of educators and leaders:
